Case Studies

We are the expert specialists to solve your logistics problems. We offer four examples here of how this works in practice. The expediaemundi team would also be pleased to support you with exemplary transports characterized by the same security, punctuality, and cost efficiency.

The Fastest Spare Parts Transport

The Challenge:

Rubble removal equipment broke down in one of Australia’s most important ore mines. Production stopped, causing thousands of dollars in losses for each day of downtime.

Task Requirements:

The mine urgently needed spare parts to fix the rubble removal equipment. These parts are usually carried by sea, but this takes many days, and time was of the essence.

Our Solution:

We proposed air freight for the spare parts in this exceptional case due to the urgency. We handled the complexities of the airlift, ensured quick arrival at the destination airport, and transported the needed parts by the fastest route across Australia. Rubble removal resumed shortly thereafter, enabling ore mining to continue.

High-quality Goods to South America

The Challenge:

A manufacturer needed to send valuable spare parts from Germany to Chile. These were to be brought first by ship from Hamburg and then transported another 2000 km overland to Valparaiso – an extremely long transport route for temptingly expensive assets.

Task Requirements:

The transported goods must be delivered quickly – and above all safely – to their South American destination.

Our Solution:

Expediaemundi persuaded the customer to air freight the goods directly to South America. We handled all logistics process and saw the goods received safely on the agreed schedule. This also enabled our client to show customers there that delivery promises can always be kept even under difficult conditions.

Re-exporting Military Equipment

The Challenge:

A large German freight forwarder accidentally processed equipment intended only for temporary delivery for test purposes as a shipment to stay in the Middle East. The recipients expressed their thanks for the unexpected “gift” and intended to keep the weapons. The forwarding agent was unable to resolve the matter alone.

Task Requirements:

The weapons shipment was officially approved for testing purposes, but not for final delivery to that destination. Re-export of the equipment needed to be organized and carried out without delay – before the temporary permit expired!

Our Solution:

We are specialist logistics experts with local logistics partners in the Middle East. We contacted them, and shortly thereafter authorities at the export harbor and local customs officials were involved to update the relevant documents in accordance with the law. As a result, the weapons were in fact used only for testing and were properly returned afterwards to the manufacturer.

Loading Capacities Upgraded and Optimized for Large Transport

The Challenge:

A partner shipping company working on behalf of expediaemundi loaded heavy tracked vehicles on board a ship for transport to the Gulf of Arabia. The ship had remaining capacity in its unused cargo space.

Task Requirements:

A stopover at another port could take additional goods on board – in this case other heavy equipment. The transport costs for the individual goods would also be reduced this way.

Our Solution:

Expediaemundi organized additional cargo at a harbor along the shipping route, including qualified personnel to load and balance the plant equipment properly on the ship to ensure further safe transport of the optimized load to its port of destination.
